The good thing about the front part is that it forms after the foot and leaves room for swelling feet. They do feel great, but the part that's underneath the front part of the foot gets squeezed flat fast, so the cushioning disappears and a tiny drop from heal to toe will appear, since the part underneath the heal doesn't get flat. When the shoes get wet the water drains out fast and I didn't feel the shoes get all heavy like other shoes do. I didn't get a lot of dirt into the shoes. The gaiters are a must and stay in place too. I'm also impressed by the grip on the steep hills and how well they stayed in place in the wet marchlands where the deep mudd would have made other shoes get stuck and sucked off.
I had less sore feet than I usually have after en ultra race and my feet recovered faster than usual.

That my feet were wet for too long, which made the skin hurt, had nothing to do with the shoes. My feet felt really good during and after this race. It's my second long race in them and once again I'm amazed by how well they fit my feet.
